This organization is dedicated to honoring and giving back to individuals who embody kindness, courage, selflessness, and an unwavering commitment to improving the lives of others. Honoring Veterans
Wayne proudly served his country during the Vietnam War. Although he returned home, the sacrifices of his service remained with him throughout his life. He carried the invisible wounds of war, enduring painful memories, illness, and the devastating effects of Agent Orange exposure, which ultimately claimed his life.
Throughout his battle with cancer and other service-connected illnesses, Wayne received exceptional care at the VA Medical Center in Buffalo, New York. While he was deeply grateful for the compassion and dedication of his medical team, it was the profound comfort he found in the friendships, camaraderie, and unwavering brotherhood he shared with his fellow veterans that kept him fighting. Among those who understood his journey, Wayne found strength, acceptance, and a place where he truly felt at home. He was immensely proud to be a Vietnam veteran and always cherished the bonds he shared with his brothers and sisters in service.
To honor Wayne's legacy and recognize the courage, sacrifice, and service of our nation's veterans, we proudly visit the Buffalo VA Hospital each year around December 6—the anniversary of Wayne's passing. During our visit, we provide thoughtful gifts of comfort, encouragement, and appreciation to veterans receiving treatment in the infusion center, the very place where Wayne courageously battled his illness for three years.
This annual tradition is our way of expressing heartfelt gratitude to those who have served, reminding them that they are valued, respected, and never forgotten. It is a privilege to thank these remarkable men and women for the sacrifices they made to protect our freedoms and to let them know they are surrounded by the appreciation, support, and compassion of a grateful community. Through this tribute, we honor not only Wayne's memory but also the enduring legacy of every veteran who has answered the call to serve.
Youth Scholarships
Established in honor of Wayne D. Foster and continued in his memory, we gift an annual award recognizing an outstanding ice hockey player from Batavia, New York, who exemplifies the values Wayne lived by.
Selected by the Foundation, the recipient embodies exceptional leadership, integrity, sportsmanship, and kindness while demonstrating perseverance, resilience, wisdom, determination, and fortitude both on and off the ice.
We are honored to celebrate each recipient with a commemorative trophy, a certificate of recognition, and a scholarship in support of their future endeavors, ensuring that Wayne's legacy of character, compassion, and excellence continues to inspire future generations.
We have also had the honor and privilege to stand alongside remarkable young people and the communities that support them. Through sponsorships we have helped advance causes that make a meaningful difference—from supporting research for devastating and life-altering diseases to easing the burden of unaffordable expenses faced by youth and their families.
Every opportunity to serve is a reminder that even small acts of generosity can create lasting change. Whether helping a young person pursue their dreams, providing assistance during difficult times, or partnering with organizations dedicated to improving lives, we are proud to be part of efforts that inspire hope and strengthen communities.
